Colombia Santa Maria Geisha Washed
Finca Santa Maria has a deep-rooted history spanning over 50 years. Located in the Andes Mountains, in the Buesaco region of Nariño, this farm, which produces high-quality coffees, was purchased by Armando Benavides in the 1980s from a retired airplane pilot. Since then, he and his family have meticulously cared for and cultivated this land.
Initially dedicated to growing apples and other fruits, Armando decided to shift the farm's focus to coffee cultivation over 20 years ago. However, to preserve the farm's natural ecosystem, he continued to maintain many of the local fruits and trees. It was purchased by Armando Benavides 30 years ago.
Armando Benavides' signature Geisha coffee boasts a very special profile, characterized by its smooth body, bright acidity, and a complex array of floral and fruity flavors.
Introduced to the farm over a decade ago, this varietal has a significant history here. Due to its moderate yield and limited resistance to diseases, it has been one of the varietals on the farm that requires the most care and attention.
Between harvest seasons, Armando focuses on the meticulous care of the coffee trees: he carries out pruning, fertilization, and pest control to ensure the health and productivity of the plants. During the harvest, which lasts several weeks, the collection process is carried out in several rounds (gradually) from the plants to ensure that only the ripest coffee cherries (fruits) are selected.
